When a traumatic event occurs, a moment can become “frozen in time.” Physical sensations and memories are experienced again and again as though the original event were reoccurring. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) stimulates the right and left hemispheres of the brain to process and reduce the intensity of disturbing thoughts, images and the sometimes overwhelming physical response to trauma.
EMDR helps treat:
- Post-traumatic stress
- Panic attacks
- Addictions
- Anxiety and phobias
- Performance anxiety
- Stress reduction
- Complicated grief issues
- Sexual and physical abuse
